Day 4: Scenario 1

I finally got a chance to sleep in, although the switch to DST kinda messed my sleep schedule up. Went to my only Monday class without any problems and grabbed lunch in Stamp afterwards. I spent most of the afternoon chilling in my room listening to the Dr. Horrible soundtrack, which is my new current favourite music. At around 5 I headed out to a meeting about the scenario NAS was running later in the evening.

It was a gauntlet scenario and I think it went rather well. It wasn’t the complete disaster that last year’s first scenario was, in terms of humans being infected. From what I could tell, everyone had a blast playing it out. I ran off to SM after the dart run at the end of the scenario. Ryan and I worked on our scholar’s posters after SM until about 00:15.

Day 3: Seen

Woke up relatively early today, despite a second late night in a row, and proceeded to continue the story I’m writing for NaNoWriMo. It’s coming along nicely, although I don’t know where my characters will take it really.

Anyways, at around 11:30 I got a call from Kyliara asking for help in extracting a human from the Diner. Just as I was geared up and ready to go, I got a second call saying that the human made it out. I went to the Diner anyway to meet up with a friend whose Jamrick I was modding. Ate lunch, met up with KnoxBoxFox, and headed back for my dorm. I didn’t actually see one of them until later this evening when I went to anime club. One of the club members was an early turn, but we declared a truce between him and us five humans, because it’d be fair stupid to be hitting the poor guy every 2 minutes or so. Not to mention a waste of energy. XD

The same plagued human was seen outside the CCC, and stalked me back to my dorm, clearly trying to find the right time to attack. I don’t know what the deal is with this plauge, but no one ever said the changed humans were feral! I guess I should start being more cautious and carrying my swords around. Recent news from another friend of mine estimates that there are more than ten cases of the strange plague within the UMD campus. I highly suggest that we all get very quietly worried. Especially since word from ZombieJesus is that the plagued humans (I guess I’ll follow the trend and call them zombies…o.O) are targeting me. Looks like I’ll be finding alternate paths to certain classes over the next week.

Day 2: Warned

As much as I’d have rather not, I woke up at 10 am this morning so that I could attend a Skywarn class out in the engineering building. A couple of people had told me yesterday that there had been hints of a case of the strange plague reported on campus, but I’m really hoping that it isn’t true. It’s not like I can tell, anyway, since they apparently look exactly like normal people. Aside from the Skywarn class, the only other thing of note that I did today was to go to a NaNoWriMo write-in/kickoff party at Andrei’s house. It went pretty well, IMO; I managed to write more than 1700 words. ^_^ Now if I can just keep that up for the rest of the month, I should be good to go towards 50k words.

There’s not much else to talk about, really, because the only other thing I did was sleep. Damn was I tired.

Day 1: Erasable

I awoke to the sound of my alarm, as ever. As much as I’d rather not be up at 7am, I have a lab at 8, and since I intended to go to class in costume, I needed the extra time to get ready. Pics will be up somewhere. After lab I returned to my dorm and fixed little things that had gotten misplaced during lab–namely Lucy’s hat, which I accidentally made too small and had to pin to the wig. I left 20 minutes early for hebrew, because travelling almost all the way across campus takes a while when you’re carrying a hot chocolate in one hand. I’ve continued to hear stories of the strange plague sweeping across the nation, but I don’t think I’ve seen or heard of any cases within campus. After hebrew I dropped by South Campus Diner to grab lunch, so that I could eat while watching the Erasable, Inc. show. I actually ran into a few friends there, so we all walked back to the North Campus together.

Later in the evening, while sitting around bored, I got a call from a friend asking to hang out. I met up with him and two other guys outside the math portico and we walked out to CalTor. Which has really disgusting food and the salsa is weaker than I am XD. I ended up getting ‘dragged’ off to a Halloween party that turned out to be pretty boring, in my opinion, but oh, well. At least it got me away from staring at my computer screen. I didn’t get back until around 2 am on Nov 1.

day -1: Confirmation

A freelance reporter made it through the censorship early yesterday morning to report on the ‘crisis’ that’s been occurring under a cloud of secrecy. I don’t really know what to make of it, myself. According to his video post on the web, US soldiers are fighting some kind of monster that won’t stay dead. And if they make contact with you, you die. Or so it seems, because suddenly a little while later you are walking again. These creatures appear like normal humans, and can even mimic our speech and use of tools. Somehow the beings are capable of turning any human they encounter into one of them. It’s kinda scary, and of course the cries of “zombie” are louder than before. With any luck, this scourge won’t make it to Maryland. I don’t want to think about having to deal with these nasties with only a pair of swords–I’ve never owned a gun.

On a brighter note, tomorrow’s Halloween, which means fun and games and wearing costumes all day. Keep an eye out for the girl with really long pink hair and brightly coloured, mis-matched clothing. That’ll be me. ^_^

day -2: Rumours

We’ve been hearing strange rumours lately, but nothing relevant can be found in any media source. The internet abounds with conspiracy theories and speculation, but all sources agree on one thing: the government is covering up something big. Soldiers are being called into active duty on the home front, despite our ongoing war in Iraq. The soldiers must be fighting something that threatens the peace from within. The only question is: what? what are they fighting so desperately? and importantly, why are they losing? Some people claim that certain states are seceding, like they did back during the civil war, but I think that the media would be reporting something like that. This is something big, something that the government managed to hide from the media. Or at least they’ve managed to destroy any and all evidence to suggest that whatever it is that’s happening, is happening. Some of the more out-there theorists think that this is the beginning of the zombie apocalypse. I’m skeptical.

I’ll try and update this as I hear more.
